Pedophobia – Fear of Children
When you get frightened every time you are around children, pedophobia is what you have. Fear of children can develop for a number of reasons. Often, this phobia can result from childhood experiences that are traumatic or distressful.
Pedophobia causes an overwhelming, persistent feeling of dread for children. An anxious reaction is often experienced by a pedophobe when in vicinity of children.

It may also be a case where a phobic was denied loving care and attention during childhood. Such a person may feel increasingly jealous and develop pedophobia symptoms when around children who are loved and cared well for.

A pedophobe will often feel panicky when around infants, are bereft of happiness and joy that a normal adult displays when around a child.
Here are some of the pedophobia symptoms:
- Feelings of dread (around children)
- Shortness of breath
- Fast heartbeat
- Dry mouth
People with fear of children will most often avoid any type of interaction with children. They will work out ways to keep away from children and make sure that they have a safe distance between themselves and kids.
It is not always possible to avoid children all the time, and avoidance, as such, is not a solution. So it is important to seek professional help.
